Baja Divide presentation and gathering in El Sargento, BCS, MX- 2/16 at 6:30PM

Join us at the brand new Rancho Cacachilas Bike Hub in El Sargento, BCS, MX on Thursday 2/16 at 6:30PM to learn more about the history of the Baja Divide project and the success of the route in the first season, as well as the future of mountain biking and sustainable tourism in Baja California.

-Sorry for the short notice, we’re only in town for a few days so tell your friends and please share with local forums and online groups!-

The Baja Divide is a rugged 1,700 mile off-pavement bikepacking route down the length of the peninsula from San Diego, CA, USA to San José del Cabo, BCS, MX, researched and developed by Nicholas Carman and Lael Wilcox in the winter and spring of 2015-16. The route currently passes through La Paz, Los Divisaderos, San Juan de Los Planes and Los Barriles before continuing south to Cabo Pulmo and up to Mount Trinidad.

The Baja Divide connects the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortez, historic Spanish mission sites rich with shade and water, remote ranchos and fishing villages, bustling highway towns, and every major mountain range in Baja California on miles and miles of beautiful backcountry desert tracks. The Baja Divide is a free route resource for anyone to ride at any time, self-supported, and is best enjoyed from November to March, when most off-pavement routes in USA, Canada and Europe are closed for the season.

As a special celebration of the route project in the inaugural season, we assembled 100 riders to depart San Diego on January 2, 2017, many of whom are passing through La Paz and the East Cape right now. We will be hosting several riders at the event who have recently completed the entire route or are on their way to the finish. Join us at 6:30PM on Thursday evening to learn more about the route through stories and images and to visit with a small group of Baja Divide riders.

Please ride your bike to the event if possible!

  1. I’m not getting in to LV until the 19th and will unfortunately miss this. I love ultras. I’ve done the AZT, CTR… and now think I’m infected with the idea of riding this.
